Opinions on the last Sopranos?

Are there other Sopranos lovers on the blog besides Barbara? I'm curious as to what you guys think of the last episode.

Feel free to chime in with comments!

I hated it! I was looking for a big baddabang ending and we got nada. The Soprano's would NEVER have gone out to dinner at a diner (I mean really Carm was so over dressed for the dump), Meadow is not an airhead who cannot parallel park. Everyone I know was checking their TIVO's or cable connection to see if there was a disconnect at the end when the screen went blank.

I was never a big fan. (It's a Sicilian thing. It was an insult.) But that ending was just plain dumb. The progression of the last couple of episodes made no sense.

I couldn't get into the last 2 seasons but I heard the finale really sucked.

A great disappointment, to me anyway, to say the least. Although my husband called it - he said they are just a regular family (regular in their way - not mine).

Well, that's pretty unanimous. I guess it wasn't a success. Thanks for letting me know what afficionados think!

BTW, that "diner" isn't really a diner. It's an ice cream parlor about six blocks from where I live. We've eaten there many times. I can't disagree with you about its lack of elegance though.

While they were filming the episode there it made a mess of traffic and crowds of people hung out on the sidewalk all day. They had black curtains hung in the window so no one could see what was going on inside.

Well, just for a little variety I'll shake things up by saying that I kind of liked the ending (after I realized the DVR wasn't screwed up). The writer was fishing for a reaction -- and he got one from every one of us! I'm surprised all you writers aren't applauding. Yea, it was sort of a cheap trick, but I felt the writing of that episode reached out of the world of the Sopranos and touched each of us. We all have an opinion. We all have a story to tell about how we reacted. I think it was brilliant. There was no way to make a good ending. Nobody really wanted to see Tony killed, or Meadow, or AJ, etc. So why not just take a left turn and have some fun? Ba-da-bing... that's all folks!

I agree with Linda. There was no definitive way to end the series so David Chase and crew just faded to black. And here we are, trying to figure out exactly what happened. Bravo!
