Books! Books! Books!

I'm making out my Must Read book list for the year -- which of our Romancing The Yarn authors have 2007 releases? Please, please, let us all know so we can buy them as soon as they're available! Tell me NOW so I can add them to my 'watch for' list, which is organized by month.

Who else has great books I should watch for?

And to bring the topic back to knitting...who's your favorite fictional character who knits?

I just finished reading "Water for Elephants," by Sara Gruen, and it was wonderful - the sort of book I expect I'll think of often for some time.

As for my favorite fictional knitter, that would have to be one of the Harry Potter characters, either Hagrid, Mrs. Weasley, or Dobby the Elf.

There are too many books to read and never enough time! Hey, wait, I say that about knitting projects, too. Hmmm.

If anyone is interested, I have compiled a list of knitting fiction and nonfiction books which deal with knitting stories. (I'm a librarian who helps people find what books they want to read next.) The list is not complete but does have a number of different works on it. For your own copy, send me an e-mail.

I was just reading a TIME retrospective on VE-Day and saw a photo of two women ambulance drivers in Italy taking a break with their knitting needles.

If you're interested in reading a novel set around the Olympics, or if you're someone who likes winter sports, THE GAMES by Patricia McLinn is a good book.

I'm odd in that the book I read most recently is Meeting Jesus Again For the First Time by Marcus Borg. (I have The Time Traveler's Wife on my shelf.....definitely going to need a good fictional read for Jan/Feb!)

I was thinking of HP characters who knit as well (including Hermione) and of course Grommit (although he's not a book.....) Mme Defarge from Tale of Two Cities comes to mind.

Laura - I have two books coming out this year, both in November. REMAIN SILENT, a romantic suspense and an as yet untitled Blaze.

I loved the two that Barbara sent me, and romance is not my favorite genre! They were very good!
Fran, Remain Silent, sounds interesting, I love suspense.
I just read the first chapter of Friday Knitting Club, that was pretty good.

My character Grace Bettencourt who knits red scarves and feels every person should have several in their bureau drawers. She is a fictional character in a book due for release April 2007 Canterville Book One: The Dead Speak with Loose-ID.
