"Knitting is very conducive to thought. It is nice to knit a while, put down the needles, write a while, then take up the sock again." --Dorothy Day

They look cozy! :) I used a heel flap on mine, not SR heel - heel flaps fit my feet better.
Actually, I think they look quite pretty in the picture. You're obviously a very talented photographer. ;-)
They're fine. Not all socks have to be a work of art like Cookie A.'s sock patterns. And personally, I would have gone with a heel flap too--the short row heel just doesn't work for me. Maybe next time try the Show Off Stranded Socks (the pattern is free on the internet--I found it through Ravelry) and has a different heel construction--you add the gusset instead of a heel flap, and then turn the foot, and when you're done, you're done--nothing else exciting until you get to the toe.
I have made much uglier.
I think they look very comfortable and that is the best thing about hand-knit socks.
