Yarn Bombing
The Denver Post last week did a story on Yarn Bombing -- anonymous knitters who carry out a kind of textile grafitti by decorating trees, light posts, signs, and other public spaces with pieces of knitting and crochet. It's whimisical and a little weird and certainly surprising.
So -- anyone done any yarn bombing? Ever felt the desire to knit a tree cozy or dress up the local lamppost?

Oh, how funny!
I can't even finish the $@#(&%$(& blanket I'm knitting. I don't have time to decorate lampposts! However, I find it an entertaining idea and would love to see some yarn bombs around my town.
im working on doing the post to my mailbox right now
Could you be arrested? For, say, 'illegal sweaterin'?
That is soo cool! I feel like putting a few granny squares around the city now myself!
This is mildly amusing. I'm just torn between saying "Cool -- it keeps knitting in the public eye" and saying "If you have that much extra time and yarn, there are a lot of charity knitting sites that would appreciate your work."
Yes, I also wonder "Who has time?" But it is interesting public art -- until it becomes all ragged in the weather. If you do this, then you have an obligation to maintain it, too.
I love this!
