Best Foot Forward #2a

I frogged the toe-up sock I'd started in Cashsoft then decided to cast on for Best Foot Forward. I've made it twice before and loved it. There's something incredibly addictive about those little faux cables. (Best Foot Forward can be found in Erin McCarthy's wonderful Knit Socks! Highly recommended.)

It's one of my favorite sock patterns. What's one of yours?

I've knit the "Breeze" anklets from 2007 Knitty five times now. Anklets knit up so fast and the pattern is fun, but intuitive after a bit. You can find it here:

The other sock pattern I've made multiple times is the 9-to-5 Socks.
It has a VERY easy to memorize pattern that makes faux cables as well. It's here:

I have a generic toe-up I use the most. Occasionally I play with the legs. I use a turkish cast on and a short row heel.

I love the shape of the book! Is this something a novice sock knitter could do?

My mom had this but but I haven't gotten to look through it yet. It does have some errors in the books although they seem to be minor.

I found a page on Ravelry that lists various errata....very nice collection. It's keep me from spending an hour searching for erratas. I swear some publishers hide those pages. ;) Not sure if you've gotten a chance to check it out.

My favourite sock pattern is the Curvy Lace socks by Kathy Wesley in the Creative Knitting magazine Issue March 2005. Because of th lace design they hug you foot, dont slide down or bag at the ankles. I've made over 20 pairs as bedsocks, day socks etc. They are knitted on 3.25 mm needles in a sports weight yarn so very quick. And they are very pretty. Some folks have knitted them on ravelry and u can view pix there.

My absolute favorite is the Yarn Harlot's plain sock 'cause I can knit while riding in the car using patterned yarn. But I also love Monkey from Knitty.

I am putting Knit Socks! on my wish list today!

I love knitting in the round and cables, but lately I've had a thing for scarves and fingerless gloves. Guess what all friends/relatives are getting for the holidays?

"Best Foot Forward" socks were the first socks I tried making and I love them. I only have one problem... I finished one sock and got about 1/3 of the way through the second before I had to return the book to the library (and now someone else has it!). I made a copy of the pattern so I could finish up the second sock, but I've lost the first page! I think I could figure out the pattern by looking at it and using a trial and error process, but I would love it if someone could send me the directions for the ankle part, rounds 1-4. I've got everything for making the heel and toe, just not the beginning, lol. Oh, and I have sport wt yarn (I think)

Thanks in advance!

Tamar
